Jesus Christ, Our Savior and Redeemer

Ezra Taft Benson Chapter 6: Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer is such a great lesson to have around Easter and General Conference. The lesson starts out with President Benson expressing his testimony of the Savior, "With all my soul, I love Him." What a great thing to know. Jesus Christ loves us so much and to be able to share that love back is huge. Everything Jesus did was out of love for us. Jesus healed, taught, and comforted throughout His earthly life then gave us the greatest blessing of all through His Atonement and Resurrection. "No other single influence has had so great an impact on this earth as the life of Jesus the Christ. We cannot conceive of our lives without His teachings."

"A glorious resurrection should be the goal of every man and woman, for resurrection will be a reality." One of the things that we can do to thank Jesus for this amazing gift is in turn give our testimony and life over to Him. We are tested throughout our lives to see if we will do as the Lord commands. As we ask the question

we will be following the model that Jesus Christ has set for us. One the quotes I really like in this lesson is "Some...are willing to die for their faith, but they are not willing to fully live for it." It is often easy to say we'll do the big things, but the small things are easy to rationalize away. "I'm too tired." "What's the point of going to church if I'm just stuck in the hallway the whole time?" "I'll do it tomorrow." It is the daily persistence in even the simplest of things that will bless our lives the most.

Questions to Ponder

  • How does understanding why the Savior carried out the Atonement influence your life?
  • How does His Resurrection influence your life?
  • Why is a testimony of Jesus Christ "a most priceless blessing"?
  • What does it mean to be valiant in your testimony of the Savior?
  • How does President Benson's words about faith in Jesus Christ (section 4) go beyond just acknowledging that He lives?
  • What does it mean to live for the Savior?
