As you teach Primary 4 Lesson 3: Obtaining the Brass Plates, remember the main purpose is to understand that Heavenly Father helps those that trust and obey Him. 

Use this  Study Packet for 1 Nephi 3-7 from the Red Headed Hostess to supplement your lesson. 

Adapt this Nephi and the Brass Plates File Folder Game to your class (from Latter-day Chatter). Write questions from the manual on the back of the figures and have your class take turns picking and answering them.

My LDS Primary 4 Lesson 3 handout packet includes:

  • Poster for 1 Nephi 3:7- cut it up into a puzzle, cut out words as you memorize it, glue it in a notebook. See this post for more ideas.
  • Nephi journal page about following his example (Use these during the last 5 minutes of class. Collect them throughout the year and give each child their scripture based journal at the end of the year or for Christmas!)
  • Worksheet to go with Enrichment Activity 3- have your class draw or write their answers. Bring some fun markers and it makes a whole new activity! 
  • Find the poster for Article of Faith 3 here (print them all out now and you'll have all you need for the year)

Nephi Gets the Brass Plates- Flip book to color and assemble (Put them upside down on the board and have your class turn one over at a time to see if they can guess the story you'll be discussing)
