Discovering Your Happiness

Are you happy? Stop and review your life for a minute, are you really happy? Are you happy where you are at in life? The key to happiness, despite what studies may tell you, is found in Mosiah 2:41:

And moreover, I would desire that ye should consider on the blessed and happy state of those that keep the commandments of God. For behold, they are blessed in all things, both temporal and spiritual; and if they hold out faithful to the end they are received into heaven, that thereby they may dwell with God in a state of never-ending happiness. O remember, remember that these things are true; for the Lord God hath spoken it.

Those that are happy are those that are keeping the commandments of the Lord. That's the secret! When you keep the commandments, you find this freedom that can't be found anywhere else. You aren't looking over your shoulder  or trying to remember the rest of the story line for your last lie- you don't have that kind of burden. You are free. Free to express true happiness in every sense of the word.

Sometimes though, we tend to focus too much of the negatives around us instead of the good within our lives. Retrain your brain to focus on the good instead. Use the free Happiness printable above to record the real ways you discover happiness.

This goes beyond the simple thankful list of indoor plumbing (although that does make me happy). Reflect back on what happened during your day. Where do you find happiness? When did you smile? Write down real moments that happened to you today and every day. As you record your happy thoughts, your brain trains itself to focus on those things instead of the negative. What a happier way to live!

If you are new, every Wednesday, different LDS bloggers share their favorite scripture and why via Facebook. In each Faceboook Live video, they will also tell you about the new free printable to go along with their scripture. Be sure to like our Facebook Page so you can find out each week. Sometimes it's a poster to hang in your home, sometimes a coloring page, or even a mini booklet. Be sure to check out some of the other scripture freebies you can use after you grab this one.

This week's favorite scripture is from Emilie at A Year of FHE. If you haven't stopped by and used her site yet, you are missing out! She makes Family Home Evening simple.
